Pioneered by psychologist John Bowlby in the 1950s, the field of attachment posits that each of us behaves in relationships in one of three distinct ways:

• Anxious people are often preoccupied with their relationships and tend to worry about their partner's ability to love them back
• Avoidant people equate intimacy with a loss of independence and constantly try to minimize closeness.
• Secure people feel comfortable with intimacy and are usually warm and loving.

Attached guides readers in determining what attachment style they and their mate (or potential mate) follow, offering a road map for building stronger, more fulfilling connections with the people they love.

In Attached, Levine and Heller reveal how an understanding of adult attachment-the-most advanced relationship science in existence today- can help us find and sustain love.

Pioneered by psychologist John Bowlby in the 1950-s, the field of attachment posits that each of us behaves in relationships in one of three distinct ways. Some anxious people are preoccupied with their relationships and tend to worry about their partner’s ability to love them back.

Avoidant people equate intimacy with a loss of independence and constantly try to minimize closeness. Also, secure people feel comfortable with intimacy and are usually warm and loving.

In the book Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find - and Keep- Love, Levine, and Heller guide readers in determining what attachment style they and their partner follow while offering a schema for building stronger connections with the ones they love. I recommend this book with all of my heart to anyone who wants to improve their life.

Digital Minimalism

 Digital Minimalism

Digital Minimalism:-

Digital minimalists are all around us. They're the calm, happy people who can hold long conversations without furtive glances at their phones. They can get lost in a good book, a woodworking project, or a leisurely morning run. They can have fun with friends and family without the obsessive urge to document the experience. They stay informed about the news of the day but don't feel overwhelmed by it. They don't experience the "fear of missing out" because they already know which activities provide them meaning and satisfaction.

Minimalism is big these days.

In particular, there’s a version of Minimalism called Digital Minimalism that’s quickly rising to prominence as our lives become increasingly tech-centric.

Personal technology like smartphones and tablets are enabling us to spend more and more time online. And as we do, many of us are starting to feel uneasy about this persistent ‘digital creep’—that steady march of gadgets and tech into every aspect of our lives.

How to get rid of social media Addiction:-

I recently finished reading the book Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport that put it into perspective. I recommend it if you have a sense that all that screen time is negatively impacting your life and your brain. He doesn’t rehash the little hacks like turning off notifications -- those are small fries. Rather, he says, “the key to sustained success with this philosophy is accepting that it’s not really about technology, but is instead more about the quality of your life.”

Newport’s approach involves taking a good, hard look at the tech you absolutely need vs. nice-to-haves, and creating a 30-day plan to redefine your relationship with technology. He also interviews ex-Facebook and Google employees turned digital dissenters, uncovering the tactics that Silicon Valley conglomerates use to hijack your brain.

So, I am weaning off the digital heroine.

I’ve consolidated checking my texts to once a day (via computer), deleted all my messaging apps from my phone except one, don’t carry my phone with me most days, and deactivated Facebook.

You can disable your Facebook account (the feed/pages/events that are the source of much annoyance)

The Secret

 The Secret

Well, This Book/Video secret explains everything. Best Book I've ever read. The Main theme of this book is "Law of attraction always works." Even I agree with it.
You just have to think about a particular thing for a certain period of time. And for sure you will get it. That's secret of entrepreneurs that they never reveal.

  1. You decide what really you want to achieve: You know in a single day we get 50000–70000 thoughts. But a winner has only one thought in his mind that is about the winning of the game. So you wouldn't achieve it until and unless you don't know what to achieve. Isn't it???
  2. Ask the universe to help you: Here Universe means your known one(family, friends, etc) and your mind. Our mind is a piece of magic in this delusional world. Our mind knows every answer. So the more you ask Universe the more you find answers and help for achieving it. So ask loudly and freely!!!!
  3. Pretend you have already achieved it: Have you ever seen an interview with an actor? If yes then you might have found a common answer to the question how did you become an actor? They all answered since their childhood they were pretending to actors in front of the mirror in the bathroom. This is called a law of attraction i.e. positive attracts positive and negative attracts negative. When you pretend the thing you wanted to achieve is already yours then the law of attraction will work in such a manner that you are definitely going to achieve it in the coming days.

We all know when we badly want something, somehow we achieve it. But in achieving it, not only our hard work but other factors also help to achieve it. So for knowing it briefly you have to read “The Secret” once though I explained it's not sufficient to completely understand “The Secret”. And I'm pretty sure you would evolve as a completely different person after reading it. So in my review, it's one of the best and informative books I have ever read. There are three other sequels of this book. That is
 1. The Power.
 2. The Teenager.
 3. The Magic.
So if you haven't read them then go for them and if you have read then go for them again. I am planning to reread them too.

Will it works in real life:-

  • It works! But there is a technique to it. In my case, if there is anything that I need in my life. I admire it.

  • I feel it’s presence in my life. At that instance, I imagine how it would feel to have that particular thing in my life.
  • And I let it go. I do not fixate on it. I use the principle, “If you love something set it free. If it comes back it is yours. If not, it was never meant to be.” And more often than not, it comes true.

#2.Person

  • At a certain level, yes. It works. Not an absolute fan of the law of attraction, but the fact is, you see what you want to see.

  • When you follow the secret, you're no longer relying on destiny. You're aiming right at what you seek, and thus, that is all you see.

#3.Person

  • I am nascent with The secret but within a couple of days, my way of thinking has changed. I was 99% negative before reading the secret and now I am 100 % positive. I believe in the Secret and I follow it.

  • I am sure I will be writing many stories on the same page to explain how beautifully "The Secret " worked for me

As a Man Thinketh

 As a Man Thinketh

"As a Man Thinketh" is a self-help book by James Allen. It was published in 1903. According to Allen, the book is not intended as a complete essay on the power of thought. But rather, it is intended to help men and women realize that "they themselves are makers of themselves" through their own thoughts. The title of the book is based on this quote from the Bible. “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he”

The book is organized into 7 chapters:

  1. Thought and Character
  2. Effect of Thought on Circumstance
  3. Effect of Thought on Health and Body
  4. Thought and Purpose
  5. The Thought-Factor in Achievement
  6. Visions and Ideals
  7. Serenity

My quick summary of the book is:

  • How you experience everything in life flows from your mind’s thoughts.
  • Thought leads to actions that lead to circumstances.
  • Want to change your circumstances? Change your actions.
  • Want to change your actions? Change your thoughts.

The Cashflow Quadrant

 Cashflow Quadrant

These are the 4 types of people in the business.

"E" stands for employee. They have a job working for someone else, usually getting paid per hour.

"S" stands for self-employed or specialist, like a doctor or lawyer, or someone who owns a local restaurant.

"B" stands for a big business owner, 500 employees, or more.

"I" stands for the investor.

All of these situations are different.

  • The E and S side pay the most in taxes in the U.S. first of all. The employee usually has one job and they get benefits from that job. They followed the advice most of us hear about going to school and getting a job. So many people hate their job but at the same time are terrified of losing it. “Job security” doesn’t exist anymore. You have very little freedom and very little opportunity to raise your income as an employee. I remember when I had a job, it would go like this. I got paid every two weeks, so at the end of the month I had some money in the bank, but at the end of the month, the bills are due. Every employee knows what I’m talking about. It’s called living paycheck to paycheck. They get some money but then the bills are due and hopefully, there’s a little bit leftover. Sadly, some people have zero leftovers and some go into even more debt cause they have less than zero left. I hate being an employee.

  • A self-employed or specialist person might make a lot of money, but it has downsides too. A doctor might make a lot of money, but they might spend most or all of it. I remember Robert telling me about a doctor friend of his. This doctor made $500,000 a year but spent $525,000. So even though he made a lot of money, he was still going into debt and had the cashflow of a poor person. So Robert says it’s not really about how much money you make. What E’s and S’s have in common is this: if they stop working, their income stops. Whether you’re an employee for a company or a doctor making a lot of money if you stop working you’re not getting paid. And that’s not what I would want.

  • A big business owner starts their own company. They find a good team of people and hire other people. I love a quote from Rich Dad Poor Dad, “An intelligent person hires someone more intelligent.” A business owner finds partners and hires other people to do the work. A business owner builds a system and has intelligent people manage that system. The cool part is that once the business is up and running, the business owner can leave and stop working. The business owner can go on vacation but still has money coming in because they built a system and have people running that system.

  • An investor is someone who has their money work for them. An investor buys into stocks or real estate or established businesses and lets the money flow in. This is where you get to after you’re already wealthy and you need somewhere to plant your money so it grows even more money.

The good news is that now with the internet you can create your own passive income sources that bring in money even while you sleep. You can sell digital products like ebooks or online courses. And you can do this without starting a “business” and hiring other people. That’s what I’m working on right now and if you search online for “passive income” or “how to make money online” you will find tons of information.

Essentialism

Essentialism - By Greg McKeown is one such book that literally helped me in many areas of my life.

  • The author tries to explain a simple principle of Less but Better in various manner and the very first thing that strikes me in this book was the line - If you don’t prioritize your life, someone else will.

  • It periodically tries to explain that we should select a few important things that actually matter to us from the many random things that we try to accomplish but rather fail in it. To discern the vital few from the trivial many, there is a hack presented in the book and i.e, Explore & Evaluate, then Eliminate and finally Execute.

  •  It tells us in order to focus we need to create space, give ourselves leeway by reserving some personal time because The faster and busier things get, the more we need to build thinking time into our schedule and the noisier things get, the more we need to build quiet reflection places in which we can truly focus.

  •  It says that the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing and Our highest priority is to protect our ability to prioritize. I realized that our time is actually valuable & priceless and that we have the full right to say No to the things which we don’t want to do or need to do. The only difference is we can put up our No in a graceful manner without offending anyone including ourselves as A clear No can be more graceful than a vague or Noncommital Yes.

  •   Lastly, the supreme message that the author tries to give is To operate at your highest level of contribution requires that you deliberately tune in to what is important in the here and now.

Attitude is Everything

 Attitude Is Everything

The basic idea of the book is that it tells you to always have a positive outlook in your life be it the way you walk the posture you stand and the words you speak, all should be in a positive manner so that positivity becomes a part of your subconscious mind.

Here are some interesting things the book tells:-

  • Some really devastating things may have happened to you. perhaps you’re going through some tough times right now. But even under the worst circumstances you still have the power to choose your attitude.
  • “Never underestimate your power to change yourself”
  • Success = Think*speak*act
  • We became what we think
  • You must first clearly see a thing before you can do it.
  • Everybody lights up the room some when they walk in and some when they walk out.
  • Whenever does someone asks you How are you?
    • always answer in a positive tone saying just okay represents an “okay” attitude and an “okay “ life
  • STOP COMPLAINING
    • 90% of people don't care and 10% are glad that you have them
  • Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
  • The greatest mistake a person can make is too afraid of making one
  • You can get everything in life if you’ll just help enough people get what they want.
  • You can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.

The Brain

The Brain

David Eagleman is a fascinating neuroscientist. He is one of the leading neuroscientists in the world. Working at Stanford as an adjunct associate professor at Stanford University in the department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. But you know what sets him apart from other scientists? His ability to convey that which he loves in simple terms.

  • David has written various books on neurology and other subjects, and believe when I say that he makes these hard academic subjects so easy to understand.

  •  If you would like an in-depth understanding of the brain, you should look no further than, The Brain the story of you

  • Believe me when I say that this book had me hooked with everything that it had to offer on the subject of the brain.

It also included facts about the psychology and the make-up of the brain. This book offers a clear and concise explanation of the brain and its functions.

Think and Grow Rich

 THINK and GROW RICH

"Think and Grow Rich" depends. There are a lot of personal factors that affect the book's rate of effectivity on a person. Some of the most important for me is the following:

1. Open-mindedness or Mindset of the person: if you have a poor mindset or "I can't do it + excuses" line of thinking then it will be hard for you to see through the principles and apply it. Mindsets are the hardest to break because of #2.

2. Life experiences that molded or are continuing to mold the person: we all have lessons learned / traumas/beliefs that are hard to overcome in a day or even in years without #3.

3. Willingness to change: forget effectivity if you are not even willing to try. Reading Napoleon Hill's book will just be a pass time of sort without the intention to change. However, willingness should not be alike a craving that you just want to fix. The principles may be applied to daily life but all of them don't apply to every single thing that's happening in your life. Don't get bat crazy by trying to point out which lesson/s is "specifically" applicable. That's why we go to #4.

4. Discernment and awareness on how and when to apply the lessons: you need to evaluate situations, how you react to them, and which principles you can adapt that can prove to be effective. Yes, I capitalized the "S" on principles to point out that the lessons are interrelated and not mutually exclusive. But in the end, we need #5.

5. The discipline to DO and APPLY the principles daily: nothing will be as effective as when we make the principles part of our habit. It will not be rote memory but applying the lessons will be as automatic as you open your eyes to wake up.

On whatever level you are, the rate of effectivity will vary. It's hard to make a finite measurement out of it.
